Today, after we finished all of our lessons we took some time with Dr. Seuss. We read many books and then picked our favorite to expand on. We also made some delicious cupcakes to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Our favorite Seuss book today was Green Eggs and Ham. The kids loved reading this book and Buddy laughed the whole way through. Tay read along from memory and Ash listened intently. It was so much fun.
After the story I had the kids go through and say all the places Sam I Am asked to eat Green Eggs and Ham. We then took out some paper for picture drawing. The kids each picked a part of the book they liked and drew a picture about it. All three kids picked different things. I love that!
Tay's Picture: "Would you eat them in a box." "Would you eat them with a fox."
Ash's Picture: "Say! I like Green Eggs and Ham!" I do! I like them, Sam I am!"
Buddy's Picture: "Would you, could you, on a boat?"
After dinner tonight we ate the yummy chocolate "Green Egg's and Ham" cupcakes!
We had such a fun day with Dr. Seuss! I am one who always tries to stay to our textbooks. I am learning that I need to branch out a little bit more and just have fun with the kids. Today was one of those days! We had so much fun reading, laughing, drawing, and eating yummy treats together as a family. This is one of the reasons why we homeschool! Enjoyment!

This looks like so much fun! I always think of ideas way too late, and then I don't have anything prepared. I need to plan in more "just for fun" things too. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteKimberly, so glad you decided to "branch out" today and mix it up! It can be rewarding! Enjoy your day and peace to your heart!
